Tonic Unplugged: As Good as it Gets
Iota - Arlington, VA
March 25, 2003
|
Upon entering the tiny Arlington Club (Iota) for Tonic's accoustic show, I
wasn't really sure what to expect. I honestly hadn't heard much of their
work since Lemon Parade, and wasn't sure if they were still the mellow band I was familiar with. To my delight, the
threesome (ok, maybe the wording is weird?) did not disappoint. The small
club size made for a very intimate setting, and the band engaged the crowd
throughout the show. Cuts from their new album, Head on Straight, surfaced
several times during the evening, but crowd favorites like Casual Affair and Soldier's Daughter were never far
behind. The guys even bowed to the the crowds emphatic requests, and played
a great rendition of Sweet Home Alabama. All in all the small venue and the
choice of an accoustic tour made for a great evening.
