Ok, so I may be biased but….
The Pearl Jam show last night at Nissan Pavilion was probably the best show
I’ve ever seen. My friends and I raced through the gates just as Eddie and
the gang were finishing up their first song, Can’t Keep (I hate DC traffic!)
However, we got there just in time; as we found our seats the band broke
into Elderly Woman Behind The Counter in a Small Town, one of my all time
favorites, so I knew it was going to be a good night. (That is, after I got
over Eddie’s new “middle-aged man” hair do...)
Pearl Jam is currently on the
second leg of their North American Tour to promote their latest album, Riot
Act, released last November. And the guys’ talent for writing some damn good
music continues…Their show last night included Can’t Keep, Green Disease,
Crop Duster, ˝ Full, Thumbing My Way (a personal fav), and You Are. Of
course they mixed in some of the oldies but goodies, (Daughter, RVM, Black,
etc), and it wouldn’t be a Pearl Jam show without some covers, (Give me some
Truth-John Lennon, & Know your Rights-The Clash – My thanks go to the
investigative work of Craig).
But one of the highlights of the night included
the crowd singing the entire first verse of Betterman. For those of you at
the show last night, my hats off to you, you rocked hard, and helped make it
a great time. PJ finished up the night with two encores, thrilling the crowd
with Rocking In The Free World and Yellow Ledbetter before taking their
final bows. Some last words for Eddie, Mike, Jeff, Matt and Stone, and of
course, the Hawaiian Newcomer on keyboard… Thanks for showing the world the
way, musically, that is. Until next time...
